Before 2015, brokers in Germany received a commission calculated in the rent of an apartment. Usually tow months rent. After 2015 a new law entered into effect in which the landlord or owner would have to pay the commission to the broker instead. This change created an opportunity in the market: how can landlords choose the right renter for the object? At the same time, it created a different on the other side of the spectrum, for brokers, their business has been tremendously reduced overnight. To address these opportunities in the market, TENANTO was conceived.
TENANTO was a software platform in which potential tenants could register to apply for an object. They would be giving a ranking according to the information that they were willing to share: credit score, personal information, payment slips and others… The landlords would then login to the platform and were able to choose according to the recommendation system, who would be the best candidate.
Part of the project was to validate the acceptance and viability of the idea. We created a microsite to collect email addresses for people interested in the service with the aim to validate if there was a real opportunity in the market and if the approach to the product market/fit was the right one.
